Kyle Robert Beckerman (born April 23, 1982 in Crofton , Maryland ) is an American football player . The midfielder is under contract with Real Salt Lake and is a member of the United States national soccer team .

Career

In the club

Beckerman began his career at Miami Fusion before moving to the Colorado Rapids in 2002. He played for Colorado in Major League Soccer for five years .

In 2007 Beckerman moved to league rivals Real Salt Lake . In 2007 he was in the squad for the MLS All-Star Game for the first time . At Real Salt Lake he took over shortly after joining an important role in the midfield and in the leadership of the team, so he with the start of the MLS season in 2008 the captain was at Real Salt Lake.

With the club he won the Eastern and the Western Conference once each by the end of the 2019 season . His greatest success was winning the national championship ( MLS Cup ), although the regular season had been rather mixed before. Beckerman also reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League 2010/11 .

Beckerman is the most-betting outfield player for Real Salt Lake and has also been the most-betting outfield player since 2015 with his 379th game. His long-time team-mate Nick Rimando has even more appearances, but as a goalkeeper .

National team

Beckerman was part of the squad for the 1999 U-17 World Cup , which was held in New Zealand . There he reached 4th place with the US team. He made his senior national team debut on January 20, 2007 in a friendly against Denmark . In 2013 he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup . Beckerman was in the squad for the 2014 World Cup .
