Lê Quan Ninh
Lê Quan Ninh (born December 29, 1961 in Paris ) is a French percussionist specializing in contemporary and improvisational music.
Live and act
Lê Quan studied percussion with Sylvio Gualda at the Versailles Conservatory from 1978 to 1982 . He then worked with various ensembles for contemporary music (including Musique Vivante , Espace Musical , Alternance , Entre-Temps , Musique Oblique ) and has been a member of the percussion ensemble Quatuor Hêlios since 1986 , with which he works by composers such as Jean-Pierre Drouet and Vinko Globokar , Giorgio Battistelli , George Lewis and Kaija Saariaho performed.
As an improvisation musician, he worked with the guitarist Jean-Christophe Aveline , the clarinetist Misha Lobko and the saxophonist Daunik Lazro . Together with Lazro he performed with the Compagnie du Hasard under the direction of Nicolas Peskine , Michel Doneda joined them during a 1986 tour of Poland , and finally the quartet Les Diseurs de Musique emerged from the formation with the lyricist Serge Pey .
In 1987 Lê Quan met the bassist Peter Kowald . In his Global Village project , he had the opportunity to meet with musicians as diverse as Kazue Sawai , Sainkho Namtchylak , Seizan Matsuda , Zeena Parkins , Junko Ueda , Ishii Mitsutaka , Leo Smith , Savina Yannatou , India Cooke , Xu Feng Xia , Werner Lüdi and Gunda Gottschalk to occur. He has also worked with Carlos Zingaro since 1988 and with Butch Morris since 1991 .
From 1992 to 2002 he was a member of Association La Flibuste , a group that realized more than 140 multimedia performances of improvisation music , primarily in the Toulouse region. Furthermore he realized dance projects a. a. with Iwana Masaki , Valérie Métivier , Nakamura Yukiko , Michel Raji , Pascal Delhay , Olivia Grandville , Franck Beaubois and Patricia Kuypers .
In 2006 he founded the Ensemble Hiatus for contemporary music with Martine Altenburger . He also formed a trio with Carl Ludwig Hübsch and Harald Kimmig . He also worked with André Goudbeek , Peter Jacquemyn and Christine Wodrascka .
Prizes and awards
In 2003 he was artist in residence for the city of Biel.
