André Goudbeek

André Goudbeek (* 1946 in Zwolle ) is a Dutch jazz and improvisation musician ( alto saxophone , bass clarinet , composition ) who lives in Mechelen , Belgium .

Live and act

Together with Fred Van Hove , Paul Van Gysegem , Willy Roggeman and Cel Overberghe , he founded the Werkgroep Improviserende Muzikanten in 1973 as an association of Belgian improvisation musicians. He directed his own Full Moon Trio ; In 1975 he initiated his first improvising saxophone quartet, the Hommage Sax Quartet with Luc Houtkamp , John Ruocco and Michel Mast. In the early 1980s he was part of Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath , with whom he performed at the Moers Festival in 1981 . In the same year he performed with John Tchicai , François Jeanneau and Philippe Maté at Jazz Middelheim . Between 1982 and 1994 Goudbeek was a member of the Willem Breuker Kollektief , with which he performed internationally. With Ivo Vander Borght he formed a duo that was expanded with Van Hove to the trio MLB III. He toured with Andy Altenfelder through the GDR, Spain and the Netherlands. He also played with Peter Brötzmann and Barre Phillips and in 1995 recorded an improvised soundtrack for the silent film " Nanook from the North " with Bart Maris , Remko Devroede and Chris Duerinckx .

He led his own quartet with Patries Wichers, Giles Thomas and Thomas Campaert. He worked with Peter Jacquemyn as a duo, which was expanded to include Lê Quan Ninh to form the AGiiiR trio and then Christine Wodrascka to form the AGiiiiR quartet.
