The Löfbergs Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Swedish city of Karlstad . The arena is the home ground of the ice hockey club Färjestad BK from the highest Swedish league, the Svenska Hockeyligan . The name sponsor of the arena is the Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs .
history
The Löfbergs Arena is mainly used for ice hockey games and concerts . Färjestad BK has played its home games in the hall since it opened in 2001. The arena was one of the three venues during the 2002 Ice Hockey World Championship . It was also the venue for the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship 2010 . In 2012 the European Curling Championships took place in the arena .
The most famous musicians and bands who gave concerts in the Löfbergs Arena include Elton John , John Fogerty , Bryan Adams , Dolly Parton , Rod Stewart , Motörhead and Judas Priest . In 2004 and 2006 a semi-final of the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , took place in Karlstad. Another round of the Melodifestival was held here on February 3, 2018.
