Was gymnastics in the summer on the turn place on the Castle Field (now Gustav-Radbruch-Platz) , in winter in turn local that the Katharineum in Werkmeister house Lübeck St. Catherine's Church in Glockengießerstraße had set up the second In 1857 the club received its name, which is still valid today, Lübecker Turnerschaft from 1854 . In 1892 a women's and girls' department was added.
Sports facilities have been the main gym in Mühlenstrasse since its inauguration in 1891 and, from 1904, the gymnastics center on Charlottenstrasse.
In April 1902, the club house with the Turnerschaftshaus restaurant was inaugurated in the street An der Mauer .
On March 5, 1917, the centenary of German gymnastics was celebrated in the main gym. Among other things, the General of the Infantry v. Falk ( Commanding General of the Deputy General Command of the XI. Army Corps from Altona ), Major General v. Wright (Deputy Commander of the 81st Infantry Brigade ), Mayor Fehling , members and councilors of the Senate, Presidium and members of the citizenry, representatives of the high school authorities, the high schools, the non-profit society and other associations as guests of honor .
In the 1920s, after intense disputes between gymnasts and athletes , the gymnastics community concentrated on classical gymnastics , which led to the outsourcing of several sports such as tennis (1920) and football (1923). Because of the clean divorce decreed by the German Gymnastics Association, members of the sports department resigned from the LT in November 1923 and founded the sports club Phönix , which in April 1924 merged with the Lübeck Ballspielverein from 1903 to the Lübeck Ballspielverein Phönix von 1903 eV .
In 1936, as part of the National Socialist coordination , the gymnastics association became a member of the “German Reich Association for Physical Exercise”. After the Second World War, gymnastics was officially resumed in 1947, with gymnastics, gymnastics, dance, handball, table tennis, athletics, swimming, netball and fistball.
In 1971/72 the gymnastics association built a new hall on Possehlstrasse with club rooms and a restaurant. Further expansion plans led to the sale of the traditional gymnastics hall in the old town in 1994 and an extension with a gymnastics hall in 1995. In 2011 a sports kindergarten was added.
Departments
From 1911 to 1923 there was a football department , which then joined the LBV Phönix . The largest departments, each with 650 active people, are now apparatus gymnastics and gymnastics . The newest department is AcroLiner , which offers acrobatics , trampoline gymnastics and breakdancing .

- ↑ The presence of high-ranking military personnel can be explained by the fact that until the end of the First World War , as I mentioned in the film Paths to Strength and Beauty from 1925, only young males did physical exercise. They did this particularly in the military .
