Lüdecke Ernst von Schöning (* 1649 ; † September 17, 1693 in Heilbronn ) was a Brandenburg officer and governor of Magdeburg and commander of the Magdeburg Citadel , and later a Saxon lieutenant general.

Liidecke Ernst was a member of Neumark noble family of Schoening . He was the son of the heir to Suckow and Lübow , Heinrich von Schöning († 1665) and Ilse Sophie von Blankensee († 1653). He was not married.

Life

Schöning began his career in 1669 as a musketeer in the Brandenburg Guard , where he advanced to lieutenant in 1672 and captain in 1675. He took part in the war against Sweden and in 1682 rose to the position of Oberstwachtmeister. From 1682 he took part in the Great Turkish War and the siege of Ofen . On December 30, 1686 Schöning was promoted to colonel and appointed commander of the body regiment. On October 17, 1689 he was promoted to major general. From 1689 to 1691 he fought in the Palatine War of Succession and took part in the siege of Bonn and the capture of Brussels . Since June 2, 1691 Schöning was governor of Magdeburg.

On March 1, 1692, Schöning changed to the Electoral Saxon service and took part in the Imperial War against France. In 1693 at the latest he was promoted to lieutenant general. After Field Marshal Hans Adam von Schöning was arrested , he led the Saxon contingent in the Imperial Army , but died in the Heilbronn camp.

Schöning was the hereditary lord of Ückerhoff , Muscherin , Klein Rischow and Lübow , as well as a proportion of Suckow.
