The Lüsner Tal ( Italian Val di Luson ), also called Lüsental or simply Lüsen , is a valley in the South Tyrolean Dolomites . It is located in the not dolomite , but primarily of quartz phyllite built Lüsner mountains . On its orographically left side it is bounded by the Plose mountain range, on its right by the mountain range of the Lüsner and Rodenecker Alm . Administratively, the valley with its small villages belongs almost entirely to the municipality of Lüsen , only the end of the valley, called Gunggan , is divided between the municipalities of St. Martin in Thurn , Brixen and Villnöß .

The valley, drained by the Lasanke , branches off from the Eisack valley in the Brixen area and initially strives eastwards and later southwards, where it ends under the peaks of the Peitlerkofel group on the Kofeljoch and Würzjoch . The narrow valley floor is covered with embankment soils.

The sun-exposed slopes are mainly overgrown with Scots pine , lower layers are characterized by sweet chestnuts and manna ash . Fir forests dominate the shady slopes . The streams often have gray alder trees. At higher altitudes there are spruce forests , from around 1700  m above sea level on the Plose and Würzjoch mainly Swiss stone pines and larches grow .
