The L'Europe is a research vessel from the French research institute Ifremer . The ship is built as a catamaran . It is managed by Genavir.

General

The ship was built at the OCEA Transport shipyard in Saint-Nazaire and delivered in December 1993. It is primarily used in the Mediterranean . The ship can stay at sea for about eight days.

Technical data and equipment

The drive of the ship by two four-stroke - six-cylinder diesel engines of Poyaud, built by SACM under license. The engines, each with 345  kW power, act on two controllable pitch propellers .

Two Scania diesel generators with 151 and 92  kVA apparent power are available for power generation.

The ship is equipped with echo sounders and various other devices for fisheries and marine research . The ship is equipped with a swiveling stern boom that can lift 5 t. In addition, there is a crane in the fore and aft area with a capacity of 5.3 and 3.4 t respectively. In the fuselage there is a 1.3 × 1.3 meter moon pool . There are various winches on deck . Additional winches were installed to operate research equipment that is lowered into the water through the moonpool.

One 20-foot or two 10-foot containers can be carried on deck .
