LS Cable & System was founded in May 1962 as Korea Cable Industry, but then became Goldstar Cable in January 1969 and was later known as LG Cable until November 2003 as part of the LG (LG = Lucky Goldstar) Group. In March 2005 LS Cable & System became an independent cable company under the name LS Cable as part of the newly established LS Group . In June 2008, LS Cable & System Superior bought Essex , an enamelled copper wire manufacturer based in Atlanta , USA, for approximately $ 900 million to expand its influence in North America and Europe. In March 2011, LS Cable was renamed LS Cable & System.

On April 2, 2014, the European Commission fined eleven manufacturers a total of almost 302 million euros in a cartel for high-voltage energy cables (underground cables and underwater cables). LS Cable received a fine of around € 11.35 million.
