La Mesa (Spanish: the table) is a city in San Diego County in the US state of California , United States , with 57,065 inhabitants (as of 2010). The urban area has a size of 24.1 km² and the population density is 2400 inhabitants per km². La Mesa is located off Interstate 8 and California State Routes 94 and 125 . La Mesa was founded in 1869 and has been officially run as a city since 1912.
