history

The nave and the transept probably date from the 11th century. The bell storey of the square crossing tower, into which narrow, loopholes-like openings are cut, is still from the Romanesque period. Extensive changes took place in the 15th and 16th centuries, and the choir was renewed in the 15th century . The year 1425 is carved into a wooden beam of the roof truss in the north nave. At the beginning of the 19th century, a new, slate-covered pointed helmet was placed on the crossing tower.

The church is built on the plan of a Latin cross . The interior, including the choir, extends over nine bays . It consists of a main nave and two side aisles, which also continue in the choir, a transept and a recently closed choir. Arched arcades, which rest on columns and pillars, open from the main nave to the aisles. The high arcades under the crossing, which rest on mighty pillars with pillars, are dated to the 10th or 11th century. The arcades that lead from the side aisles to the choir room are decorated with coarse bulges . They are supported by set columns with Romanesque capitals with different geometric motifs.

Murals

Remains of Romanesque wall paintings are preserved on the nave walls, which were rediscovered in 1996 during renovation work. The paintings are dated to the 11th or 12th century. The last supper , the devil and a battle scene can be seen on the depictions .

The original color with gilding is still partially preserved. The heads of Mary and the baby Jesus are missing, as is Mary's right hand.
