geography

course

The Lafatscher Bach rises to the east above the Hallerangerhaus from a source also known as the Isar spring, which is popularly known as the Lafatscher spring. The Lafatscher Bach continues to flow north of the Kleiner and Großer Lafatscher in a westerly direction towards the Hinterautal , where the Moserkarbach and the Birkkarbach, which rises south of the Birkkarspitze, meet. A few hundred meters after the confluence of the Birkkarbach, the place officially known as the Isar origin is located in the eastern part of the Hinterautal. The springs there are referred to as the origin of the Isar , as the Lafatscherbach has often dried up.
