The Lama ( Russian Ла́ма ) is a right tributary of the Shosha in the central Russian oblasts of Moscow and Tver .

The Lama rises on the Moscow ridge in Moscow Oblast. At first it flows in a westerly direction, passing the city of Volokolamsk . Then it turns north. Finally she meets the Shosha. The mouth is already in the area of ​​the Ivankowoer reservoir .

The Lama has a length of 139 km, it drains an area of ​​2330 km². The river is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean discharge on the middle reaches is 8.49 m³ / s. The river is usually covered with ice between November and the end of March / mid-April.

In the past, an important waterway that connected the Volga and Moskva rivers ran along the course of the river.
