Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is open. It is only hairy like a cobweb. The yellow-green young leaves are also hairy like a cobweb and spotted bronze (anthocyanin spots).
- The medium-sized leaves (see also the article leaf shape ) are five-lobed and deeply indented. The stem bay is open in a U-shape. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are set closely in comparison to the grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) is hardly blistered.
- The cone-shaped grape is mostly shouldered, large and loose to moderately compact. The slightly oval berries are medium-sized and bluish-black in color. The peel of the berry is thin.
Lambrusco Montericco ripens 40 days after the Gutedel and is therefore extremely late ripening. In Emilia-Romagna, the grapes are collected by mid-October. The vigorous variety delivers consistently high yields as long as there is no trickle , as the variety is very disease-resistant.
