history

Lambzig was first mentioned in 1435 as "Lamptzig". The irregular division of the town hall into blocks and strips suggests a Slavic origin of the town. The name of Lambzig is derived from the Slavic "lom" or "lomsko", which means "quarry", "windbreak", "in the forest" or "swamp area".

The place belonged to the Mylau rule , which came to the Electoral Saxon Office of Plauen in the 16th century . Until the 19th century, the lordship over Lambzig was part of the manors Netzschkau and Mylau . Between 1752 and 1755, magnetic iron thuringite was mined in the “Brauner Hirsch” mine. From 1896 to 1901 iron ore was extracted from the "Lambziger Fundgrube".

Until 1856 Lambzig belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen. In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Reichenbach court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Lambzig became part of Reichenbach in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Reichenbach from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996.

On April 1, 1992 Lambzig was incorporated into the city of Netzschkau.
