Lanchkhuti ( Georgian ლანჩხუთი ) is a city in western Georgia .
Geographical location
Lantschchuti is located in the Guria region about 230 kilometers west of the capital Tbilisi as the crow flies and about 20 kilometers north of the regional capital Osurgeti , from which it is separated by a mountain range over 500 m high. From the coast of the Black Sea , Lanchuti is about 25 kilometers away. The city has 6395 inhabitants (2014). It is the administrative seat of the Lanchchuti municipality .
history
In 1883 Lantschchuti received a station on the Poti / Batumi – Baku railway line . In the Soviet Union , Lanchuti was developed into the center of agriculture in the southern Colchis lowlands and received urban-type settlement status in the 1930s . In 1961 he was granted city rights.

Lantschchuti is home to the football club FC Guria Lantschchuti , which was represented in 1987 in the top division of the Soviet Union , the Wysschaja Liga .
