Lara Nielsen (born December 19, 1992 in Toowoomba ) is an Australian hammer thrower .
Athletic career
Lara Nielsen gained her first international experience at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Moncton , where she was eliminated from the qualification with a width of 53.20 m. In 2014 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time and was ninth there with 60.18 m. The following year, she took seventh place at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju with a throw of 63.34 m. Two years later she reached sixth place at the Student World Games in Taipei with 65.47 m and in 2018 she won the bronze medal behind New Zealander Julia Ratcliffe and her compatriot Alexandra Hulley at the Commonwealth Games in the local Gold Coast with a throw of 65.03 m .
From 2013 to 2017 Nielsen was the Australian hammer throw champion. She graduated from the University of Southern Queensland with a degree in Commerce .
