Lars Roar Bohinen (born September 8, 1969 in Vadsø ) is a former Norwegian football player . Between 1993 and 2001 he played for the English clubs Nottingham Forest , Blackburn Rovers and Derby County . With the Norwegian national team he took part in the 1994 World Cup in the USA.

Player career

First stations in Norway (1986–1990)

Between 1986 and 1990 Lars Bohinen played for the Norwegian clubs Bærum SK , Lyn Oslo , Vålerenga Oslo and Viking Stavanger .

BSC Young Boys (1990-1993)

In July 1990 the 20-year-old Norwegian moved to Switzerland and signed a contract with BSC Young Boys . In the Swiss Football Championship 1990/91 he reached a placement in the middle of the table with his new team. The team from Bern acted more successfully in the Swiss football championship 1992/93 by winning the runner-up championship.

Nottingham Forest (1993-1995)

After a temporary return to Norway at Lillestrøm SK , Bohinen moved on November 5, 1993 to the English second division Nottingham Forest . Shortly afterwards, the club signed another Norwegian national player, Alf-Inge Haaland . His new club was relegated the previous year from the newly introduced Premier League 1992/93 and achieved direct promotion back to the first division with the Norwegian midfielder (23 league games / 1 goal). The return to the Premier League in 1994/95 led the team around Stan Collymore , Bryan Roy , Stuart Pearce and Lars Bohinen (34 league games / 6 hits) to third place in the table.

Blackburn Rovers (1995-1998)

On October 14, 1995, Bohinen left Nottingham after two years and moved to league rivals and reigning champions Blackburn Rovers for £ 750,000 and scored four goals in nineteen league games by the end of the 1995/96 Premier League . He scored two goals on November 18, 1995 in a 7-0 home win over his ex-club Nottingham Forest. In the 1995/96 UEFA Champions League , the English champions failed prematurely in the group stage. Blackburn could not build on the successful championship season between 1996 and 1998 and Lars Bohinen did not come into play as hoped with twenty-three and sixteen league games.

Derby County (1998-2001)

Even before the 1997/98 Premier League ended , the 28-year-old midfielder signed a contract with Derby County for a transfer fee of £ 1,450,000 . During the 1998/99 season Bohinen (32 league games) earned a regular place with the team from Derby and reached an eighth place in the table with County. Due to injury, his stakes were significantly reduced in the following two seasons. On January 23, 2001, his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

Last stations (2001-2003)

After more than seven years in England Bohinen moved to the Danish first division club Lyngby BK in the Danish Superliga 2000/01 and ended the season in ninth place in the table. In January 2002 he moved to the Danish second division club Farum BK and rose with his new team as runner-up in the Danish 1st Division 2001/02 in the Superliga . His last position in 2003 was the Norwegian first division club Vålerenga Oslo , where he ended his playing career at the age of 34.

Norwegian national team (1989–1999)

Lars Bohinen made his debut on October 25, 1989 in a 2-2 win in Kuwait for the Norwegian national team. After successfully qualifying for the World Cup , Norway achieved a World Cup final for the first time since the 1938 World Cup when it took part in the 1994 World Cup in the USA . The team around Erik Thorstvedt , Rune Bratseth , Stig Inge Bjørnebye , Alf-Inge Haaland and Lars Bohinen had surprisingly left the favorite national teams of the Netherlands and England behind. Lars Bohinen scored the second goal for the Norwegian team in a 2-0 home win over England on June 2, 1993. After his nomination to the Norwegian World Cup squad , the 24-year-old Bohinen played all three group games (1-0 against Mexico, 0-1 against Italy and 0-0 against Ireland), but his team was eliminated on points with all three group opponents after the Preliminary round out.
