Lars Halvdan Buraas (born January 17, 1995 in Lillehammer ) is a Norwegian Nordic combined skier .

Career

Buraas, who starts for Hurdal IL , made his international debut on January 10, 2015 at the Continental Cup competition in Høydalsmo . Buraas was able to convince with ninth place, so that he was nominated for the 2015 Junior World Championships in Almaty , Kazakhstan . There he won the bronze medal in the team competition together with Simen Tiller , Harald Johnas Riiber and Jarl Magnus Riiber . In the Gundersen Singles over ten kilometers, Buraas finished fifth and in the sprint over five kilometers he was able to draw attention to himself in eighth place.

Nevertheless, Buraas did not complete his next international competition until January 2016, when he finished thirteenth at the Continental Cup in Høydalsmo and eighth the day after. In the 2016/17 Continental Cup season he only competed in a few Continental Cup competitions, but achieved his best career result to date with sixth place in Otepää at the end of 2017. At the Norwegian Championships 2018 , Buraas won the silver medal in the team sprint together with Jens Lurås Oftebro .

Buraas was not a regular part of the Norwegian team until the 2018/19 Continental Cup season and was largely able to convince. At the end of December 2018, he reached the podium in third place for the first time in Steamboat Springs and throughout the rest of the winter he was mostly in the points. On the other hand, his debut in the World Cup was different when he missed the top 30 in both competitions in Otepää. He finished the season in eleventh place in the overall Continental Cup standings.

At the beginning of December 2019 Buraas was part of the national group at the World Cup competitions in Lillehammer , but despite outstanding mileage, he missed the points on both occasions as 32nd. Buraas also struggled in the Continental Cup at first. His jump shape in particular repeatedly prevented a front placement. Although he went from 39th place with 2:12 minutes behind in the Gundersen Singles at the end of January 2020 in his home country Rena again almost hopelessly on the trail , he once again managed the fastest time in the field, which finally put him second behind Lars Ivar Skårset . It was the second podium finish in his career in the second-rate Continental Cup.
