The Lastovo is a ferry of the Croatian shipping company Jadrolinija , which was put into service as Ishizuchi in 1970 and has been in service between Split and Vis since 2001 .
history
The Ishizuchi was built on September 15, 1969 under construction number 627 at Kurushima Dock Co. Ltd. laid down in Imabari and launched on December 10, 1969. After the takeover by the Shikoku Chuo Ferry Boat KK on March 6, 1970, the ship was put into service on the route from Kawanoe to Kobe .
After eight years of service in Japanese waters, the Ishizuchi went under the name Partizanka to the Croatian shipping company Jadrolinija in 1978 , which it renamed Lastovo I that same year . The ship was henceforth used between Split, Hvar , Vela Luka and Ubli .
On August 15, 1993, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Lastovo I about one nautical mile from Ubli , and it spread to the entire ship. Despite the high damage, Jadrolinija decided against scrapping. Instead, the Lastovo I was repaired in Split and equipped with a new machine system.
In 1999 the ship was given the abbreviated name Lastovo . In 2001 it switched to the route from Split to Vis, where it is still in use today. The Lastovo is one of the oldest active ferries in the Mediterranean.
