The Ferlach-Maria Rain run-of-river power plant is a run-of- river power plant on the Drau between the communities of Ferlach and Maria Rain . The power plant dams the Drau over ten kilometers to the Feistritz / Ludmannsdorf power plant above, thus forming the Ferlach reservoir .
Technical specifications
The power plant was built between 1971 and 1975 by the ÖDK in cooperation with Kelag . It is unmanned and controlled from the Feistritz / Ludmannsdorf power station. The nominal output is 75 MW . The annual production is 318 GWh . The water level is approx. 17 m; To increase the head, the river bed below the power plant was lowered by 4.5 m. The two Kaplan turbines each produce a maximum of 39 MW, the associated three-phase synchronous generators a maximum of 50 MVA.
