occupation

Laura (alternative title: Emmanuelle forever ; original title: Laure ) is an Italian - French erotic - film drama directed by Emmanuelle Arsan from 1976 , with Annie Belle and Emmanuelle Arsan.

action

Laura, the daughter of a preacher , and the amateur filmmaker Nicolas share the only free seat in a taxi in the Philippines , whereupon they start a friendship. Shortly afterwards, Professor Gualtier Jones Morgan and his wife Natalie and the mistress of the two myrtles join them, with whom they drive to a joint lecture by Laura's father and the professor who deals with the Mara. The Mara are an ancient, unique, almost extinct ethnic group on a nearby island where Professor Morgan lived for seven months. Every year at the summer solstice these natives, with the exception of the old and very young, perform a ritual through which they shed their old identity, forget everything and become new people with new names, new partners and new skills.

After some revealing experiences in and around Manila , which are filmed by Nicolas, he and Laura deepen their relationship through a marriage. Newly wed, they travel to the Mara with Professor Morgan and Myrte, where Laura ultimately decides to take part in the ritual.

background

In 2007, producer Ovidio G. Assonitis claimed that Louis-Jacques Rollet-Andriane directed the film and not his wife, Emmanuelle Arsan . The original script, too, came from Rollet-Andriane's pen and was written as a thematic continuation of the original novellas, but was heavily changed by the producers because the philosophical scenes were too long. The final version therefore has little to do with the Emmanuelle stories.

Laura was created in 1975 and had its Italian premiere on February 4, 1976. The film premiered on July 2, 1976 in the Federal Republic of Germany .

criticism

For the lexicon of international films , Laura was "sloppily staged, full of pseudo-philosophical talk."
