Laura Gimmler (born December 5, 1993 ) is a German cross-country skier . She has been part of the customs ski team since 2014 .

Career

Gimmler made her debut in the Alpine Cup in Rogla in March 2011 , where she came in class 28 over 5 km. At the Junior World Championships in 2012 in Erzurum , she was fourth with the German relay and finished 14th in the skiathlon and 26th in the sprint. A year later, she won bronze in the relay at the Junior World Championships in Liberec and was fifth in the sprint; She was also 22nd in the ski athlon. In December 2013, Gimmler achieved her first top 10 result in the Alpencup with fifth place in the sprint in St. Ulrich am Pillersee . In January 2014, she was again fifth in the sprint in Chamonix . Shortly thereafter, Gimmler started at the U23 World Championships in Fiemme Valley , where she finished 5th over 10 km classic, 14th in sprint and 33rd in skiathlon. In February 2014, Gimmler took second place in the prologue of the Alpencup stage race in Campra , making her first podium in the series. Three weeks later she was third in the sprint in Rogla. Also in the season she was German sprint champion .

In the 2014/15 season , Gimmler achieved a total of nine top 10 placements, with her best results being third in the sprint in Oberwiesenthal and in the prologue of the stage race in Chamonix. In January 2015, Gimmler made her debut in the World Cup at the Tour de Ski , finishing the first two stages outside of the points and not starting the third stage. In the same month she finished third in the sprint at the German championships in Oberwiesenthal. At the U23 World Championships in 2015 in Almaty , Gimmler was fifth in the sprint, tenth in the skiathlon and 31st place over 10 km freestyle. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , Gimmler achieved top ten placements in the first three races in the Alpencup, with the sprint in Hochfilzen finishing second on the podium.

In March 2018, Gimmler was third in the team sprint and first in the relay at the German cross-country skiing championships in Reit im Winkl together with Hanna Kolb .

In the 2018/19 season, Gimmler made the points 12 times in the World Cup and thus achieved 45th place in the overall World Cup and 26th place in the Sprint World Cup. She achieved two top ten placements and 28th place at the World Cup finals in Québec . At the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , she finished 20th in the sprint, 13th place over 10 km classic and fourth place with the relay. At the end of March 2019, she became German champion with the SC Oberstdorf relay at the German cross-country skiing championships in Reit im Winkl .
