biography

Lauren Wood began her music career in the late 1960s when she initiated the psychedelic rock band Rebecca and the Sunnybrook Farmers . The group released a little-noticed album on Musicor in 1969, Birth . With her cousin Novi Novog and the bass player Ernie Emerita, she founded the group Chunky, Novi & Ernie a little later under the pseudonym Chunky , whose debut album was published in 1974 with the simple title Chunky, Novi & Ernie on recapitulation . Wood did the vocals and played the keyboard . In 1977 Warner was followed by another album titled only with the group name.

In 1979 the debut album named after her hit the stores as a soloist , with the misleading “feat. Novi & Ernie ”was printed on the cover . The single Please Don't Leave , with Michael McDonald in the background, entered the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 . In 1981 the album Cat Trick hit stores.

In the period that followed, Wood became quiet. She wrote songs for other artists as well as for film and television soundtracks . Her clients have included Gladys Knight , Philip Bailey , Cher , Dusty Springfield , Animotion , Tiffany , Nicolette Larson , Sammy Hagar and Montrose , Billy Preston, and others. The American also sang in a few commercials . In the credits to the chart hit I'd Do It All Again by Sam Harris (1986 No. 52 in the USA) she is named as an accompanist.

Lauren Wood had another great success in 1990 as the singer of the title Fallen , which came from the soundtrack to the movie Pretty Woman . The song made it into the German airplay charts (number 80) in June 1991 .

In 1997 Wood founded her own label Bad Art Records and after a long break released a solo album again, which, like her debut in 1979, was entitled Lauren Wood . This included the original version of Fallen . The song Life Keeps Bringin 'Me Back to You , the theme music for the Just Shoot Me series , was sung by Wood. In 2007 the fourth solo album Love, Death & Customer Service was released .
