Lauri Tukonen (born September 1, 1986 in Hyvinkää ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with EHC Kloten in the Swiss League . His older brother Olli-Kristian is also a hockey player.
Career
Lauri Tukonen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Ahmat Hyvinkää , for whose professional team he played a total of 36 games in the Mestis , the second Finnish division, from 2001 to 2003 . The winger then moved to the Espoo Blues youth team during the 2002/03 season . For their professional team he was regularly on the ice in the SM-liiga from 2003 to 2005 and also spent six games on loan for the U20 national team in the Mestis in the 2003/04 season .
From 2005 to 2008 Tukonen played for the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League , whose cooperation partner Los Angeles Kings had selected him in the first round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft as the eleventh player. For Los Angeles itself, he played five games in the National Hockey League between 2006 and 2008 , in which he remained unpunished. For the 2008/09 season , the right- shooter returned to his Finnish homeland. After starting the season with SM-liiga participant Ilves Tampere , he switched to his league rival Lukko Rauma in the middle of the season , for whom he was on the ice until 2014. During this time he reached third place in the Finnish championship twice with Lukko.
In May 2014 he moved to TPS Turku together with Petteri Nummelin .
Between January and April 2019, Tukonen was under contract with EHC Kloten in Switzerland.
International
For Finland Tukonen took part in the junior division in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2004 , where he was both top scorer and best preparer. He was also in his country's squad at the U20 Junior World Championships in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 . In 2004 and 2006 he and his team won bronze medals at the U20 World Cup, and in 2006 he was also elected to the All-Star Team.
