Lawrence Township is a township in Mercer County . It is not far north of Trenton . In 2010 it had around 33,000 inhabitants.
history
Lawrence Township developed around the historic core of Lawrenceville . In 2003, an F1 tornado on the Fujita scale caused extensive damage to buildings.
politics
This community is administered by a council consisting of the mayor and four council members. The council members are elected for four years. Two to three council members are elected every other year. The council members elect the mayor annually for one year.
Infrastructure
The mall, which opened in 1975, has around 100 stores. The economy is shaped by the nearby Princeton University . In addition to the Bristol-Myers Squibb research facility , GS1 and the Educational Testing Service company are also based here.
Lawrence is served by Interstate 295 and US Hwy 1 and 260 . The Northeast Corridor railway runs through the community area, but without a stop.
Attractions
The "Port Mercer Canal House" was built in 1830. It served as the home for the man who operated the swing bridge on the Raritan and Delaware Canal . It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places . The "Baker-Brearley House", built in 1761 in the style of Georgian architecture , is also listed in the register.
