Lazarus Gottlieb Sichling (born July 17, 1812 in Nuremberg , † August 18, 1863 in Leipzig ) was a German copper and steel engraver .

Life

Sichling's father was the bristle binder and publisher Hieronymus Pius Paulus Sichling (* March 28, 1784, † December 5, 1828) in Nuremberg. He died when his 2nd son Lazarus was 16 years old. Lazarus Sichling received his training at the art school in Nuremberg. In 1835 he went to Munich . There Lazarus Sichling was a student of Samuel Amsler . Sichling, in turn, was the teacher of Albrecht Fürchtegott Schultheiss and Adolf Neumann in Leipzig .

Sichling stood out in particular for portraits , vedute and book illustrations .
