Le Bleymard is a former French commune with 380 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lozère department in the Occitanie region .

With effect from January 1, 2017, Le Bleymard merged with the municipalities of Bagnols-les-Bains , Belvezet , Chasseradès , Mas-d'Orcières and Saint-Julien-du-Tournel to form a nouvelle commune called Mont Lozère et Goulet , where since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée .

geography

Le Bleymard is a mountain village on the upper reaches of the Lot River , north of the Mont Lozère massif on the northern edge of the Cevennes National Park . Three hamlets belonged to the municipality, Saint-Jean du Bleymard, Valescure and Le Bonnetés.

history

Le Bleymard received in 1793 in the course of the French Revolution the status of a municipality (as Le Blezinard ) and in 1801 the right to local self-government (as Bleymard ).

Attractions

The Maison de notable (House of the Notable ) was built in the 17th century. It is privately owned and was partially registered in 1997 in the supplementary directory of the Monuments historiques (historical monuments). The monument protection concerns the facades and roofing.

The church of Saint-Jean du Bleymard was built in the 12th century. It was classified as a Monument historique in 1979 . Its altar was constructed in the 18th century and classified as a monument historique in 1978 .
