The Le Tanneux of Saint Paul are a noble family that originated in Brittany and immigrated to Prussia as Huguenots in the 17th century .

history

The first documented name bearer was François de Saint Paul , who is also called François Le Tanneux dit Saint Paul in a document . He was born in 1634, had a master's degree at the Sorbonne , then at the universities of Heidelberg and Halle , until he was appointed to Berlin in 1672 as a language teacher for the Elector of Brandenburg in the Mark Brandenburg . Philipp de Saint Paul (* 1678, † after 1744) was admitted to the Prussian nobility on July 22, 1721, recognizing the French nobility as of Saint Paul .

On June 9, 1866, Ulrich von Saint Paul was named after the Illaire family. Finally the Kgl recognized. Prussian heraldry on January 24, 1889 authorization to use the name Le Tanneux von Saint Paul for the descendants of Major Friedrich von Saint Paul .
