The Leda-Jümme Association is a water, soil and dike association based in Leer .
history
The association was founded on February 28, 1948. It was created through the merger of the former Leda-Deichacht, Jümme-Deichacht and Jümminger-Hammrich-Deichacht.
Association area
The association's area of around 58,230 hectares extends to the lowlands of Leda and Jümme in the districts of Leer , Ammerland and Cloppenburg . It includes all properties protected by the dykes above the Leda barrage up to a height of +5.00 m above sea level, including the higher ground elevations within this area, as well as the areas behind the Ledadeich below the barrage to the Leer sea lock or up to the dam the Rheine – Norddeich Mole railway line . Here the area of the Leda-Jümme-Verband borders on the area of the Moormerländer Deichacht and the Overledinger Deichacht .
tasks
The association has the task of protecting the properties in the association area from flooding . To this end, the association maintains around 250 km of dykes along the Leda and Jümme as well as numerous backwaters. The association also maintains several polders and flood retention basins for flood protection :
- five regulated relief polders
- Polder Holter Hammrich (3.8 million m³ storage space)
- Empty polder (3.2 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Detern over-lowlands (3.0 million m³ storage space)
- Langholter Meer polder (1.2 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Aperfeld (0.46 million m³ storage space)
- eight unregulated polders
- Polder Weißes Moor (0.48 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Lieneweg (0.27 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Detern-Brook (0.42 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Franzosenweg (0.35 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Scharrel (0.08 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Bucksande (0.15 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Utende (0.18 million m³ storage space)
- Polder Bokelesch (0.31 million m³ storage space)
- a flood retention basin
- Selverde (0.55 million m³ storage space)
The Thülsfelder Talsperre , which flows to the Jümme via Soeste and Barßeler Tief, and the Zwischenahner Meer , which also drains to the Jümme via Aue , Godensholter Tief, Nordloher Tief and Barßeler Tief, also serve to hold back floods and can thus contribute to flood relief in the association area.
Association structure
The members of the association elect an association committee every five years, which in turn elects a board of directors.
Members of the association are all landowners and leaseholders of the properties in the association area.
