Lee Kinsolving (actually Arthur Lee Kinsolvin Jr .; born August 30, 1938 in Boston , Massachusetts , USA; † December 4, 1974 in Palm Beach , California , USA) was an American actor.

Life

Lee Kinsolving, the oldest of four children of an official of the American Episcopal Church , began acting in his first year in college. He took acting lessons at the well-known Actors Studio in New York and was thus a so-called "Method Actor".

After a short time on Broadway , the manager Richard Clayton noticed him. Clayton, who had already made James Dean and Tab Hunter famous actors, brought the young man into some TV shows. In 1959 Kinsolving moved to Hollywood, where he initially shared a room with James Franciscus . Here, too, he first appeared in television series before he made his feature film debut in the 1960 war film ... and the Lord be gracious to us . For his second role, that of Sammy in the drama The Dark at the End of the Stairs , he received a nomination for the Golden Globe for best supporting actor . Kinsolving only made one other feature film, the drama Early Maturity Generation by Buzz Kulik. After that he only played in TV series.

Although critically acclaimed for its intense portrayal, Kinsolving withdrew from the film in 1966 in frustration and bought a bar in Manhattan. After brief affairs, he sold the bar and married in 1969. Kinsolving and his wife moved to Florida and opened two art galleries. In 1972 the marriage was divorced. The enthusiastic sailor traveled around in his private boat.

Lee Kinsolving suffered from a respiratory disease. On December 4, 1974, at the age of 36, he collapsed unconscious in his Palm Beach apartment and died.
