Lee Patrick

Lee Patrick (born November 22, 1901 in New York City , † November 21, 1982 in Laguna Hills , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Patrick made her acting debut on Broadway in 1924. Five years later she went to Hollywood, where she soon played alongside big stars such as Bette Davis , Humphrey Bogart , James Cagney , Doris Day , Joan Crawford , Ingrid Bergman , Errol Flynn and William Holden . She probably played her best-known role as Humphrey Bogart's secretary, Effie Perine, in the crime classic The Falcon's Trail . Patrick was considered a very versatile actress, in the drama Women's Prison she played a bitter inmate, while in the film The Great Aunt she appeared rather shrill at the side of Rosalind Russell . Most recently she played mostly minor supporting roles, for example as a car driver in Vertigo - From the Realm of the Dead - addressed by James Stewart . In the mid-1960s, she withdrew into private life. Only in 1975 the actress had a brief comeback in the film The Black Bird , where she again played the role of secretary Effie.

The artist was married to Thomas Wood from 1937 until her death in 1982. The marriage remained childless. Lee Patrick died of a heart attack the day before her 81st birthday.
