Lee Yoon-chul (born March 28, 1982 ) is a South Korean hammer thrower .

Athletic career

Lee Yoon-chul gained his first international experience at the 2002 Asian Championships in Colombo , where he finished fifth with 63.53 m. He then took part in the Asian Games in his native Busan and reached eighth place with a width of 62.57 m. The following year he was at the Summer Universiade in Daegu with 62.53 m ninth and at the Asian Championships in Manila with 64.56 m sixth. At the Asian Championships in 2005 in Incheon he finished fifth with a throw of 64.56 m and won the silver medal at the East Asian Games in Macau with 66.40 m. In 2006 he again took part in the Asian Games in Doha and reached fourth place with 69.07 m. In 2007 he was fourth again at the Asian Championships in Amman with 64.51 m and finished eleventh at the World Student Games in Bangkok with a width of 66.86 m.

Two years later he was seventh at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou with 66.24 m and sixth at the 2010 Asian Games there with 67.55 m. 2011 followed a fifth place at the Asian Championships in Kobe and qualification for the World Championships in Daegu, where he was eliminated with 67.97 m in the first round. In 2013 he reached fourth place at the Asian Championships in Pune with 72.98 m and won the silver medal at the East Asian Games in Tianjin with 67.65 m. At his third Asian Games in Incheon in 2014, he finished sixth with 70.36 m. In 2017 he won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 73.77 m behind the Tajiks Dilschod Nasarow and Wang Shizhu from China. In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he reached fifth place with a width of 71.10 m. The following year he was at the Asian Championships Doha with 69.81 m fifth.

From 2002 to 2007 as well as 2009 and 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016 and from 2018 to 2020 Lee was the South Korean hammer throw champion.
