Leila Vaziri (born June 6, 1985 in New York City ) is an American swimmer and world champion over 50 m back.

Leila Vaziri was born to Mansour and Lise Vaziri and grew up in Coral Springs , Florida , where she attended high school . During her high school years, she was a three-time high school master of the state of Florida. She has attended Indiana State University since 2003 and is a member of the university's swimming team.

In August 2006 she won the US ConocoPhillips National Championships over 100 m back and in November 2006 she was second in this discipline at the US Open .

On March 28, 2007 at the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne , she improved the world record over 50 m back to 28.16 s in the semifinals, after she had already set a new annual record in the heats. In the final on March 29, 2007, she set this world record and thus became world champion.
