Giaan Rooney
Giaan Leigh Rooney (born November 15, 1982 in Brisbane ) is a former Australian swimmer who specializes in back and freestyle courses.
She lives in Melbourne , where she trained with Matt Welsh and Michael Klim , among others . After the 2006 Commonwealth Games, she retired from swimming to focus on her television career. Today she works there as a moderator for sports and health magazines. She also took part in the Australian version of Stars on Ice .

- Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games 1998 in Kuala Lumpur over 100 meters back and with the 4 × 100 meter relay
- Silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney with the 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay
- 2001 world champion in Fukuoka over 200 meters freestyle
- Olympic champion 2004 in Athens with the 4 × 100 meter relay
- World Champion 2005 in Montreal over 50 meters back
- Silver medals at the Commonwealth Games 2006 in Melbourne over 50 & 100 meters back
