Lene Grawford Nystrøm Rasted (also known as Aqua-Lene ) (born October 2, 1973 in Ramnes near Tønsberg in Fylke Vestfold ) is a Norwegian singer , musician and actress . As a member of the Danish-Norwegian band Aqua , she achieved greater popularity in the 1990s. She also became known for her involvement in Danish and Norwegian film and television productions.

Career

After graduating from school in the early 1990s, Nystrøm first worked as a barmaid and model. In 1998, the Norwegian tabloid Se og Hør printed several nude photos of Nystrøm from the 1990s when she was still a model. The publications of the pictures, which were taken by the photographer Rolf "Roffe" Tore Kjæran, came under public criticism because Lene Nystrøm was still a minor at the time the pictures were taken.

Pop musician at Aqua

Lene Nystrøm began to be interested in activities in the entertainment industry while working as a model. She first made her debut with an appearance on the television show Casino on TVNorge . In 1994 she got an engagement as a singer on the Danskebåt ferry MS Peter Wessel . During her performances there, she met the Danish singer René Dif , with whom she later appeared again in the bands Aqua and Joyspeed . Nystrøm took over the female singing in the group.

The first published single from Aqua with Nystrøm “Itsy Bitsy” (1994) was not very successful. The then still relatively unknown pop group traveled through Scandinavia without getting the corresponding media interest. In 1997 they released the album Aquarium . With the hit Barbie Girl , the band's popularity increased. Aqua then brought some popular pop songs, released records in over 20 countries, got platinum status and suddenly Aqua-Lene was a pop star. For her participation in Aqua, Lene Nystrøm received the special prize of the Spellemann Prize from the jury in 1997 .

In 1998 Aqua created the score for the Hollywood film Sliding Doors and made appearances at the MTV Music Awards and played her well-known hits such as Barbie Girl, Dr Jones and Roses Are Red . Aqua came under public criticism in 2000, but this did not damage its success.

Nystrøm was in a relationship with band member René Dif and almost simultaneously with Søren Rasted , which led to a falling out within the group. In August 2001, after the relationship conflict, Aqua surprisingly broke up amicably for the public. Previously, Nystrøm Søren Rasted had secretly married in Las Vegas in camera. The couple have two children together; their daughter India was born on November 6, 2004 and their son Billy was born in the spring of 2006. On April 26, 2017, Nystrøm and Rasted announced their separation after 16 years of marriage.

After Aqua

After the band broke up, Lene Nystrøm Rasted tried to advance her own solo career with her own titles with varying degrees of success. In 2003 she released her solo debut album Play with me and the singles It's your duty , Pretty young thing and Virgin superstar .

Then she worked as a songwriter for other bands and artists. For example, she wrote the songs for the group Girls Aloud , No Good Advice and You Freak Me Out for their first album Sound of the Underground . 'The album Sound of the Underground was ultimately a huge success for the band Girls Aloud .

As a singer, Nystrøm reached the top spots again in Denmark in 2005 with the song Tsunami-singlen , after which she withdrew from the music industry for the time being.

On October 6, 2007, Aqua announced their reunion and began a comeback tour in early 2008.

Movie and TV

Lene Nystrøm had a smaller public appearance early on. In 1997 she appeared in a popular short music video film by her band Aqua as Barbie Girl. In 2009 Nystrøm Rasted got her first film role in the Danish film by Ole Bornedal Liberate Us from Evil ( Fri os fra det onde ), where she plays a rape victim in the lead role as Pernille. Shortly thereafter, in the same year, she played the nightclub singer and double agent Eva Karlsen in a leading role in the Norwegian war film Svik during the Norwegian occupation in World War II alongside Götz Otto and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal . In 2009 she also appeared in the Danish crime series Lulu & Leon in the role of Alexandra von Linden, directed by Jannik Johansen . She appeared in the role of Eva in the 2011 Danish comedy film Klassefesten by Niels Nørløv . She achieved greater fame as an actress from 2010 to 2012 through her role as Karin Bjørge on the side of Trond Espen Seim in five films of the second season of the Norwegian film series The Wolf ( Varg Veum ).

Furthermore, she has made several appearances as herself in various documentaries, television and talk shows.
