Jacques Heuclin

Jacques Heuclin (born July 10, 1946 in Paris , † October 31, 2007 ) was a French racing driver and politician.

Politician

After attending primary school in Pontault-Combault and high school in Le Perreux-sur-Marne , Heuclin began working as a controller in a design company in the late 1960s . From 1968 he became politically active and joined the Parti socialiste unifié , whose chairman at the time was Michel Rocard .

In the following decades Jacques Heuclin held various political offices. He was elected mayor of Pontault-Combault four times, in 1983, 1989, 1995 and 2001 : for two years he also held this post in Combs-la-Ville . From 1986 to 1997 he was a member of the Conseil régional d'Île-de-France and was State Secretary for Foreign Affairs under François Mitterrand from 1991 to 1993 .

Jacques Heuclin was a Freemason in the Grand Orient de France . He died in October 2007 of complications from pneumonia .

Career in motorsport

In 1971 Jacques Heuclin began motor sports as an amateur. He started out in national touring car races . In the 1980s, activities became more professional. In 1981 he drove his first 24-hour race at Le Mans , where he crossed the finish line, but not counted because the distance covered was too short. In the following years he competed in Le Mans again and again and was also involved in the Interseries . In 1983 he competed in a race for the German racing championship and achieved his first place in the final classification of Le Mans in 1987 with eleventh place. Since 1986 he has competed in sports car races for the small racing team of his friend, the racing car designer and driver Louis Descartes .

He spent the last years of his career in the French touring car championship before he had to retire in 2003 for health reasons.
