Didier Bonnet
Didier Bonnet (born April 28, 1949 - January 12, 2011 ) was a French racing driver and racing car designer.
Career as a driver
Bonnet was a well-known and successful French hill climber . Between 1971 and 1983 he was able to win 100 hill climbs in the French and European championships . As a sports car driver, his greatest achievement was eleventh place in the 1998 Kyalami 2.5-hour race . The race was part of the 1998 FIA Sports Car Championship and was won by Jérôme Policand and Gary Formato on a Riley & Scott Mk III . Bonnet shared the cockpit of a Debora LMP297 with Jean-Claude de Castelli and Philippe Favre . Eleventh place in the overall standings was synonymous with success in the SR2 class.
Racing car designer and team boss
In the tradition of his compatriots Jean Rondeau and Yves Courage , Bonnet began designing and building racing cars in the early 1990s. As with Rondeau and Courage, the goal of their own racing team was to take part in the Le Mans 24-hour race . From Bonnet Auto Racing 1992 Debora . The in-house designs were initially based on Tiga technology and were used in sports car races until 2000. The best placing of a Debora in Le Mans was the 20th place of Patrice Roussel , Eduoard Sezionale and Bernard Santal in the LMP295 1995 .
