Heinrich Goeringer

Heinrich Göringer (born November 8, 1843 in Landshut , † October 13, 1926 in Munich ) was a Bavarian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the rent clerk Leopold Göringer and his wife Therses, née Doetter. His brother Alfred (1856–1932) also embarked on a military career in the Bavarian Army, becoming a general of the infantry .

Military career

Göringer graduated from the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich in 1864 and then studied at the Munich Polytechnic . In 1864 he became a member of the Corps Vitruvia Munich. Having previously been in the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment patterned had been moved Göringer 1866 for service in the Bavarian army one. As a second lieutenant in 1870/71 during the war against France in the 5th Infantry Regiment, he took part in the battles of Weissenburg and Wörth and the siege of Paris .

Released from this position with his promotion to lieutenant colonel on March 21, 1894, he came to the general staff of the II Army Corps and was chief there in 1895/96. Göringer then returned to the military service and, as a colonel, was given command of the 13th Infantry Regiment “Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria and Apostolic King of Hungary” . On July 21, 1900, he was promoted to major general . From July 21, 1901, Göringer was in command of the 4th Infantry Brigade until he was finally put up for disposition on May 17, 1903 .

With the outbreak of the First World War , Göringer was reactivated and appointed commander of the 9th Infantry Brigade. For a short time in 1915 he was deputy leader of the 20th Infantry Brigade at the front in France . Promoted to lieutenant general in 1916, Göringer's mobilization provisions were lifted the following year.

Göringer married Helene Bauer in 1878. The marriage had three children.
