Leo Grünstein
Leo Grünstein (born July 18, 1876 in Lemberg ; died January 10, 1943 in Theresienstadt concentration camp ) was an Austrian art and literary historian .
Life
Grünstein first attended the German high school in Lemberg. He completed a degree in law and political science and then in philology , German and art history at the University of Vienna . He had been working as a freelance writer and translator from Slavic since 1895 , and in 1901 was a candidate for teaching in secondary schools. He was on 16 July 1907, the thesis " Johann Heinrich Merck as a writer on art" in German with Jakob Minor Dr. phil. PhD . Several study trips through Germany followed. He wrote essays on Viennese and international cooperation, comparative literature and art historical writings, lexical entries and poetry .
Grünstein was also a board member of the German Association of Writers and Journalists in Austria and the Society of Picture and Miniature Friends. He lived at Kraftgasse No. 8 in Vienna before he was deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto . The obituary report shows that he was single. The cause of death is given as an intestinal infection with pneumonia .
