Leon Bahner (born July 16, 1995 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German basketball player . He was most recently under contract with the Giessen 46ers Rackelos in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB .

career

Bahner was born in Mönchengladbach and grew up in Bonn . As a teenager he played soccer and from the age group U16 he played basketball with the youngsters of Telekom Baskets Bonn . In 2013 he moved to RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and went to the United States after one season .

He studied finance in California at San José State University , on whose basketball team he also played. In the 2014/15 season, he was used in nine games before he sustained an ankle injury, so that he could not play until the end of the game year. By 2016 Bahner had completed a total of 35 missions in the NCAA and posted an average of 1.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

After two years in the USA, he decided to return to Germany and signed a contract with Hamburg Towers from the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in August 2016 . He was also given a double license for Hamburg's cooperation partner SC Rist Wedel ( 2nd Bundesliga ProB ). During the 2016/17 season, he had to pause for months due to a torn ankle ligament and a syndesmosis tear. His 2016/17 season balance was as follows: For Hamburg he scored an average of two points and 2.7 rebounds in nine ProA games, for Wedel it was averages of 8.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1 , 5 blocked opposing throws.

For the 2017/18 season, Bahner moved to the ProB league team Artland Dragons  in Quakenbrück and achieved averages of 9.9 points, six rebounds and 1.1 blocked opposing throws per use (27 games) this season. During the summer break of 2018, he joined the Gießen 46ers Rackelos (also 2. Bundesliga ProB). He played seven games for Mittelhessen and split up during the 2018/19 season.
