Leona Stahlmann

Leona Stahlmann (born September 7, 1988 ) is a German writer and journalist .

life and work

Stahlmann grew up in Fulda ( Hesse ) and attended the private Catholic girls' school run by the Maria Ward sisters until he graduated from high school . Stahlmann studied European literature and book studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz up to his master's degree and conducted intensive research on intermediality and paratextuality , including the media staging of authorship and the staging of reading culture in the 21st century. Alongside her studies, she worked as a lecturer for various public publishers. After working as a literary agent and copywriter, she now works as a freelance writer. In 2017 she received a Hamburg Prize for Literature to support her work on her debut novel Der Defekt , which was published by Kein & Aber in 2020 .

Stahlmann has been organizing a literary stage for female writing in Hamburg since 2019 and is a journalist and speaker for sexual diversity. She endorses and supports research by the Beckley Foundation. Stahlmann lives with her partner, the screenwriter Niklas Hoffmann, in Hamburg-Altona .
