Leonard Frey
Leonard Frey (born September 4, 1938 in Brooklyn , New York , † August 24, 1988 in New York City ) was an American film and stage actor .
Life
Leonard Frey grew up in Brooklyn, where he was a student at the local James Madison High School . He knew early on that he wanted to be an actor, so he took lessons at the Neighborhood Playhouse . His career in film, television and theater began almost simultaneously. In Anatevka , Frey first appeared on Broadway in September 1964 . He also stood in front of the film camera for the first time in the same year in the horror film The Fat Black Pussycat .
With a few exceptions, such as a guest appearance in Peter Sellers ' comedy film Magic Christian (1969), Frey's cinematic career was limited to television series, including guest appearances in Kobra, Take Over (1971) or Quincy (1978). When Frey's stage debut, Anatevka , was adapted into a film of the same name in 1971 , Frey was also engaged, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1972 as the culmination of his career .
The National Heath , in which he was seen at the Circle in the Square Theater in the fall of 1974, is one of Frey's most consistently successful play . In 1975 Frey was nominated for the Tony Award .
Frey was in front of the camera until shortly before his death, including an episode of Murder is her hobby in 1987 . Frey died shortly before his 50th birthday of the immune deficiency disease AIDS .
