Leonardo Conti (born September 15, 1978 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper .

Career

Leonardo Conti was on the ice for the first time in the DEL in the 1995/96 season for the Augsburg Panthers , where he moved from the offspring of the Augsburg EV. He stayed there for four years before Hans Zach , at that time still national coach , guided him to the Kassel Huskies . But he could not prevail against Chris Rogles , so he moved back to the club after a year. He went to rival Frankfurt Lions , where he was appointed to the national team after the first season .

In 2002 he saw no more chances to improve in the DEL and moved to the second division club EC Bad Nauheim . The ERC Ingolstadt signed him for the 2003/04 season . In the following season he signed with the Iserlohn Roosters , where he formed a goalkeeping duo with Dimitrij Kotschnew . In early 2006, the Roosters signed Rich Parent, an experienced Canadian goalkeeper who blew up the Conti / Kotschnew duo. For the 2006/07 season , the two formed the goalkeeper duo of the Sauerland for the third time.

Under the new coach Geoff Ward he only came to short appearances except for cup games. On New Year's Day 2007, the Roosters signed the Czech goalkeeper Petr Franěk and at the same time announced the separation with Leonardo Conti, as he should not be sitting in the stands as the third goalkeeper as in the previous year, but should have the chance to look for a new club . He found this after a week with the upper division EV Ravensburg , where he contributed to the rise of the EVR, especially in the play-offs.

His career as the first goalkeeper at EVR, who called themselves "Tower Stars" when they rose to the second division , only lasted through the 2007/08 season under coach Georg Holzmann , who switched to EVR shortly before Conti. From January 2008 he moved to the second row next to Dennis Endras , whom the Ravensburger signed briefly for the remaining season. After coach Holzmann left the club at the end of the season and the goalkeeper position was disputed, although Endras also moved to the Augsburg Panthers in the DEL, Conti quickly found a new role as number one at the upper division ESV Kaufbeuren . There he was on the ice with the shirt number 35 in the 2008/09 season. On July 17, 2009 it was announced that Conti Rostislav Haas would replace the Augsburg Panthers as a substitute goalkeeper. In the Panthers he was number 35. On March 8, 2013, he announced his end of career at the end of the DEL 2012/13 season . From August 2013 he became a scout and coordinator in the marketing department.
