Leonardo de Vitor Santiago (born March 9, 1983 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian soccer player who is currently active for the Dutch club FC Eindhoven .

Career

society

Leonardo began his career in a soccer school in Rio de Janeiro . At the age of 12 he was discovered by a scout from the top Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam and from then on played Feyenoord in the youth team. He made his debut for the Feyenoord A-Team in the 2000/01 season. He scored his first goal for the Rotterdam against SC Heerenveen . With Feyenoord he won the 2001/02 UEFA Cup . After this success he had to contend with injuries frequently and only came to eleven missions between 2002 and 2005. For the 2005/06 season he moved to NAC Breda where he made a name for himself with strong performances, so that Ajax Amsterdam signed him for the winter break of the 2006/07 season. At Ajax, however, he did not get beyond the reserve role and returned to NAC Breda in 2009. In the summer of 2011, FC Red Bull Salzburg brought him to Austria on loan for a year . On February 23, 2012, the bulls pulled the cheap purchase option. NAC Breda received a transfer fee of 100,000 euros for the Brazilian, whose contract would have run until summer 2013. On July 5, 2012, Red Bull Salzburg announced the separation from Leonardo. The termination was preceded by an interview with the Brazilian, in which he criticized team-mate Stefan Maierhofer .

After two years at Ferencváros Budapest , Santiago moved to TSV 1860 Munich in July 2014 and signed a one-year contract. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he was one of the regular players under coach Ricardo Moniz . After Moniz was replaced as coach by Markus von Ahlen in September 2014 , the Brazilian was mostly no longer in the competitive squad. His contract with the “Münchner Löwen” was terminated early at the end of November 2014 at his own request.

After a season for the Australian team Newcastle United Jets and an eight month break, Leonardo signed with the Dutch second division club FC Eindhoven in March 2017 .

National team

He played seven games for the U23 team in Brazil . He has not yet played for the Brazilian national team.
