Leonhard von Muralt

Leonhard von Muralt (born May 17, 1900 in Zurich , † October 2, 1970 in Cavalaire-sur-Mer , France ) was a Swiss historian and Anabaptist researcher .

Life

The von Muralt family comes from Locarno and, after converting to the Protestant faith, found a new home in Bern and Zurich in 1555 . Leonhard von Muralt studied in Zurich and Geneva. Muralt later taught at the University of Zurich as a full professor of modern general and Swiss history. He was co-editor of the works of Ulrich Zwingli in the Corpus Reformatorum and the sources on the history of the Anabaptists in Switzerland (Zurich). The main field of activity of the historian Muralt was the history of modern times with a focus on the history of the Reformation.
