Leopoldia is a genus of plants from the subfamily Scilloideae .
description
The inflorescence is a loose or dense raceme. The flower stalks are longer to shorter than the flowers . Fertile flowers are elongated urn-shaped or tubular, narrowed at the neck and usually brownish, dirty yellowish or greenish in color. A secondary crown is missing. Due to the well-developed shoulders under short terminal lobes (or teeth), the flowers often appear asymmetrical. The lobes are cream-colored, yellowish, or blackish. There are numerous sterile flowers. These form a blue, purple or pink tuft, which can sometimes be very reduced. The capsule fruits are three-lobed, the lobes moderately or strongly flattened.
distribution
The occurrence of the species extends over the entire Mediterranean area. It extends from the Canary Islands to Afghanistan and from Central Germany and the southern former USSR to North Africa .
