Leopoldo Ndakalako

Leopoldo Ndakalako (born December 13, 1968 in Ohakaonde , Cunene Province , Angola ) is an Angolan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Menongue .

Life

Leopoldo Ndakalako attended the preparatory course in Lubango and studied from 1989 to 1993 philosophy at the seminary in Huambo . He studied theology from 1994 to 1997 at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. On December 14, 1997, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Ondjiva .

After his ordination he was initially Vice-Rector of the Propaedeutic and Chaplain at the Cathedral of Ondjiva . From 1999 to 2003 he studied again at the Urbaniana and received his doctorate in philosophy . He was then rector of the preparatory course until 2016. From 2012 to 2017 he was Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Care and since 2017 Vicar General of the Ondjiva Diocese.

On March 19, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Menongue. The Apostolic Nuncio in Angola, Archbishop Petar Rajič , donated him episcopal ordination on May 12 of the same year in Ondjiva . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Luanda , Filomeno Vieira Dias , and the Bishop of Ondjiva, Pio Hipunyati . The inauguration in the Diocese of Menongue took place on May 26, 2019.
