Leslie Carlson

Leslie "Les" Merle Carlson (born February 24, 1933 in Mitchell , South Dakota , United States ; † May 3, 2014 in Toronto , Ontario , Canada ) was an American actor . He was best known for his work in the films of director David Cronenberg .

Life

Leslie Carlson first appeared as a stage actor. He settled in Canada in the 1960s. He began his film career in the 1970s.

In 1983 Carlson appeared in David Cronenberg's horror film Videodrome in the role of Barry Convex , which earned him a nomination for the Genie Award for Best Supporting Actor . Carlson worked for the films Dead Zone (1983) and Die Fliege (1986) and the short film Camera (2000) with Cronenberg.

Carlson died of cancer on May 3, 2014 at his Toronto home.

His first marriage was to the Canadian actress Patricia Hamilton . The actor Ben Carlson emerged from the marriage. Carlson later married again, and this marriage also resulted in a son (* 1988).
