Leslie Wilson
Sir Leslie Orme Wilson GCSI GCMG GCIE DSO PC (born August 1, 1876 in London , † September 29, 1955 in Chertsey ) was a British officer and politician .
Wilson was the son of the stockbroker Henry Wilson and his wife Ada Alexandrina Wilson, née Orme. He attended St. Michael's School in Westgate and St. Paul's School in London . After training as an officer in the Royal Marine Light Infantry , he fought in the Second Boer War , where he was wounded. This was mentioned in the war report , whereupon he received the Queen's South Africa Medal with five battle badges and the Order of War Merit. In 1901 he was promoted to captain .
In 1910 he ran unsuccessfully for parliament. In 1913 he ran again and moved into the House of Commons , of which he was a member until 1923. In the meantime he served as battalion commander in World War I and was seriously wounded in France .
In 1923 he was appointed Governor of Bombay and remained so until 1928. From 1932 to 1946 he was Governor of Queensland .
